During **inelastic collisions**, momentum is conserved but not the kinetic energy.
$$\sum_{i=1}^{n}\vec{P_i} = \sum_{i=1}^{n}\vec{P'_i}$$
$$\sum_{i=1}^{n} {E_c}_i > \sum_{i=1}^{n} {E'_c}_i$$
This can be used for slamming or other wave-like loading *(This model is reasonable when the impactor is relatively soft and the mass of impactor is larger than the mass of the node being impacted)*
